Troon ferry terminal is also accessible by car via the A78 or A77, and for those arriving by train, a free shuttle bus connects Troon station to the ferry terminal, making the transfer easy for foot passengers. From 9th June to 19th October 2025, both Ardrossan and Troon will operate services to Arran, with shuttle busses also running between Ardrossan and Troon for added convenience.
In addition to these main routes, there is the seasonal Claonaig - Lochranza ferry, which connects the Kintyre peninsula to the North of Arran. The Claonaig port is best reached by car, and the crossing to Lochranza takes about 30 minutes with tickets available on a turn-up-and-go basis. Whether you choose Ardrossan, Troon or Claonaig, each route offers a unique getaway to the beauty of Arran.
From Brodick ferry port, Seal Shore in Kildonan is just a 25 minutes with drive - follow the scenic coastal road south through Lamlash and Whiting Bay. Alternatively, you can catch the 323 bus from outside the terminal, which takes about 30 minutes to reach Kildonan. If you arrive at Lochranza port in the north of Arran, you can drive to Seal Shore in about 45 minutes by following the island’s main roads south through Brodick. The 324 bus also connects Lochranza to Brodick, where you can change to the 323 bus for Kildonan.
